Parallel Performance Investigations of an Unstructured Mesh Navier-Stokes Solver
نویسنده
چکیده
A Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solver based on unstructured mesh techniques for analysis of high-lift configurations is described. The method makes use of an agglomeration multigrid solver for convergence acceleration. Implicit line-smoothing is employed to relieve the stiffness associated with highly stretched meshes. A GMRES technique is also implemented to speed convergence at the expense of additional memory usage. The solver is cache efficient and fully vectorizable, and is parallelized using a two-level hybrid MPI-OpenMP implementation suitable for shared and/or distributed memory architectures, as well as clusters of shared memory machines. Convergence and scalability results are illustrated for various high-lift cases. Key words, parallel, unstructured, multigrid Subject classification. Applied and Numerical Mathematics

A Message-Passing Distributed Memory Parallel Algorithm for a Dual-Code Thin Layer, Parabolized Navier-Stokes Solver
In this study, the results of parallelization of a 3-D dual code (Thin Layer, Parabolized Navier-Stokes solver) for solving supersonic turbulent flow around body and wing-body combinations are presented. As a serial code, TLNS solver is very time consuming and takes a large part of memory due to the iterative and lengthy computations. Also for complicated geometries, an exceeding number of grid...
متن کاملA Parallel Compressible 3D Navier-Stokes Solver Using Unstructured Meshes
We describe in this paper a strategy for parallelising a 3D compressible Navier-Stokes solver using unstructured meshes on a class of message-passing MIMD machines. The performance results obtained on two parallel machines, the Meiko Concerto and Intel iPSC860 are presented and compared to those obtained on CRAY.

Grid adaptation is a very useful method for applications with unstructured meshes but requires dynamic load-balancing for efficient parallel computation. In this study, a parallel 3D compressible Navier-Stokes code with adaptive hybrid meshes (epHYBRID) and parallel adaptation procedure (pADAPT) have been developed on GeoFEM parallel platform. The DRAMA library has been integrated into the pADA...
متن کاملA parallel ILU strategy for solving Navier-Stokes equations on an unstructured 3D mesh
An iterative algorithm for solving a mixed finite element formulation of NavierStokes equations on a distributed memory computer is presented. The solver is a Krylov subspace method with a parallel preconditioner suitable for high latency clusters. Nodes are pivoted to minimize the number of synchronization points in each solver iteration. An unstructured mesh is decomposed into non-overlapping...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional High-Lift Analysis Using a Parallel Unstructured Multigrid Solver
A directional implicit unstructured agglomeration multigrid solver is ported to shared and distributed memory massively parallel machines using the explicit domain-decomposition and message-passing approach. Because the algorithm operates on local implicit lines in the unstructured mesh, special care is required in partitioning the problem for parallel computing. A weighted partitioning strateg...
